Bought the tan color to replace white cotton duck curtains in the living room and they do work better blocking light than the thick cotton and are lighter too. Like other reviewers have noted they do not block light completely but that's ok in the living room. I did not detect any unpleasant odor even when just out of plastic packaging. The circles pattern looks nice like I expected but the fabric is a little bit shinier in real life than the picture online. The only downside: there is a weird 1 inch "blob" on one curtain that shows up when the fabric is held against light but is not visible at all either tan side or the white backing. Odd, but I can live with it.

These curtains work just as I expected them too. I have owned many of the "blackout" curtains and none of them do a 100% job, but they do a decent enough job. The only ones I have found that REALLY block out light are the very expensive ones like the hotels have, but i am not willing to pay that amount of money...

I love these curtains! The black really do black out. They have a circle pattern of gold and silver circles all over the curtains so you may want to take that into consideration, they are more noticible than they appear in the picture. The work well at blocking light. I bought some for my son's room in the tan color and they don't block out quite as well but it is an improvement from just regular curtains. I would recommend. They are well made and the wrinkles came right out in the dryer.
