We love this lamp. We were looking for something to brighten our living room because our windows let in very little light. This does the job and more. It was super easy to assemble.
The switch allows for 3 light settings and then off. Its all on one switch, sort of like a three way switch would work. 1 click the tall lamp lights alone 2 clicks the tall lamp along with the reading lamp 3 clicks the reading lamp alone. Some people mentioned that they wish the reading lamp had its own switch, I don't mind that it doesn't. Its 3 clicks people!
The reading lamp is ideal. The fact that the tall lamp allows for a max of (2) 150 watt bulbs allows for different configurations depending on the lighting that you are looking for. If you want the maximum, which will literally light up a room like a supermarket, go with the (2) 150 watt bulbs and (1) 60 watt bulb in the reading lamp. The two together will make it like daylight! If that's too bright, just switch it up. Put (2) 100 watt bulbs or (2) 60 watt bulbs. There are a lot of options. There aren't any lamps that I searched for that allowed (2) bulbs in the large lamp and even more so, that allows a max of 150 watts each and for such a reasonable price. Well worth it. Yes, the covers are plastic, but it wasn't a priority for me. A bright lamp for a great price was what we needed. The only thing I wish could be offered is more color options for the stand like brown or white.

I've owned this lamp for a year and a half now, and it is starting to fall apart. The lamp claims to handle 2 150w light bulbs (which I never used), but even with 100w bulbs, the shade has become brittle in some places. Just this morning I went to change a light bulb, and a large section of plastic just crumbled, leaving a large hole in the shade. The reading lamp also no longer works.
I really loved this lamp when I first got it, it was bright, the gooseneck lamp was really handy, and I liked the style. After owning it for some time though, my advice is to stay away.

We were in the market for a floor lamp that could be used as the primary light in the room but also could be used as a reading light. The capability of having 2 bulbs in the torchiere portion allowed us to provide decent illumination in the room using only this lamp. We positioned the lamp immediately behind the couch, which provided us with easy switching of the light, and the reading light is night enough to reach over the shoulder of the reader.
