Cuisinart CCM-16 Review by Vishmandu "Born To Shop" (Carolina)
I've had this grinder for at least 3 or 4 years. It gets used 2-3 times per week; not a lot. It has worked OK in all that time. The grind texture is very adjustable and logical: as you turn the hopper clockwise the hopper side of the grinding blade screws down closer to the rotating side of the mating blade or wheel. This adjustment rotates about 180 degrees, from fine to coarse. You will want to experiment to get the texture you want. The ground coffee shoots out through an internal chute or passage into the attached plastic hopper. Slide out the hopper and dump ground coffee. There is a timer you set that is supposed to allow you to fill the hopper with beans, then set the timer for the number of cups you want, up to 18 cups. I keep my coffee beans in the freezer and just measure out what I want for each grind, so I don't depend on the timer to give me the correct amount. So I have no info on how well that feature might work.
The only real negative may be a big one for some people: NOISE. This thing is LOUD! If you are in a small house with bedrooms next to the kitchen you can used this grinder for an alarm clock. It is a very high speed blade system, not a slow grind at all, and it makes a very loud high pitched noise. You might want to throw a dish towel over it while grinding to dampen the noise, seriously. If you can live with the noise then I think the grinding action is adequate.
This is supposed to be better than the mini-blender type grinders, but I'm not sure. I got it so I use it, but if it broke I might just go back to the mini-blender type. They work as well and make less noise. That, or go ahead and spring for the slow speed burr grinders.
Oh, don't put this in the dishwasher. Just brush it out or blow it out with canned air or something, it will last much longer. Best Regards.

I've owned this product and used it on a daily basis for about 6 months now.
It works as advertised, and I've never had any problem with it.
The only maintenance its ever needed is to scrape away buildup at the eject port where the hopper goes; coffee dust with oil makes a paste eventually that obscures part of the eject port. This is something that takes a moment to accomplish and its good again for another month.
There can be a little static buildup in the hopper that causes the grinds to cling to it, but I can overcome this by shaking the hopper just a bit before pouring out the coffee grinds. I like that I can pour out the grinds without opening the hopper. The whole process is very effortless. If for some reason this ever failed, I would repurchase the same unit if it was still available. For me, there is no need to spend any more, and I wouldnt want to take a chance on something else that I dont have experience with. I fully recommend this product for personal use. I dont think the plastic hopper would survive a commercial kitchen environment for more than a couple weeks, but if its just the owners of the product using it, they can be careful enough that it should last for years.
Two thumbs up!
PS Another reviewed talked about washing the unit in the sink... I have no clue why anyone would wash the electrical portion of it in water. You dont need to do that! Its not designed for it.
EDIT/UPDATE 12/15/2011: Well, I take back my claim that I would purchase the same unit again. It lasted until today when it quit in the middle of grinding the morning coffee. I disassembled the unit and checked the switch for the hopper; it was working properly. The fuse on the control board was not blown either. I decided not to waste any more time with it because the plastic tube from the hopper to the burr wheel was also cracked. I don't know... it wasnt much money but for no more than one usage daily it should have lasted longer than that. I'll try my luck with a different brand this time. Sorry to anyone who was mislead by my overly optimistic opinion of how long it would last.

I have had this for over two years and it works great. As previous mentioned it sometimes gets stuck in the grind mode and over grinds. Depending on the coffee it can clog up as a previous review stated, but that depends on how much oil is in the coffee bean.
